Arthritis Travel Insurance FAQ
What types of arthritis can you cover?
We can cover all types of arthritis up to a high level of severity, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory arthritis, septic arthritis, and juvenile arthritis.
Why do I need to declare my arthritis when I buy travel insurance?
It is important to declare arthritis and any other medical conditions you may have when you buy travel insurance so that you will have appropriate cover for emergency medical treatment abroad if you need it, as well as cancellation if you become unwell before your holiday.
If you become ill due to a pre-existing medical condition, such as arthritis, that you had not declared on your policy, you would not be covered by your travel insurance and your claim could be declined or only partially paid.
How do I declare my arthritis?
When you get a travel insurance quotation, whether online or by phone, you will be given the opportunity to declare all your pre-existing medical conditions, including arthritis.
You will need to tell us what type of arthritis you have and then answer a short series of multiple-choice questions, such as whether you have had any joints replaced or resurfaced and whether you need to use mobility aids.
It will only take a few minutes and can be done online or by phone.
Do I have to declare all my pre-existing medical conditions?
Yes, it is important that if you have other medical conditions, in addition to your arthritis, that you declare all them when you buy travel insurance.
We need to get a full picture of your medical history to give you an accurate quotation and provide travel insurance cover for your holiday.
If you declare some medical conditions and not others, you could find you are not fully covered by your medical travel insurance if you need to make a claim for emergency medical expenses or cancellation. For instance, if your claim was related to a pre-existing medical condition which you had not declared on your policy, your claim could be declined or not paid in full.
